There is a casual bistro at the bottom of the hill from Monte Castello in an area called Madonna del Piano. This restaurant specializes in rectangular pizzas but has a little bit of everything. I've gone there for lunch and had some tasty salads, we love their fries and their pastas are decent too. This isn't really gourmet food but if you don't feel like cooking it's great. The best thing we enjoy here is the gelato and so we sometimes stop in the afternoon on the way home from sightseeing. It's rarely that busy but if you can make a reservation they will have a nice table pre-set for you. Although the little town above our house is small, it is certainly worth a visit.  A stroll around town will reveal a small hotel (currently under renovation), a bakery selling yummy pastries, bread and focaccia, an ATM, the smallest theater in the world, a pharmacy with an English speaking pharmacist, a post office, a butcher selling a large variety including homemade sausage for the grill, a bar selling various coffees and cocktails and offering a beautiful view of neighboring Todi, and a couple of restaurants. If you're up for a bit of a drive (50 minutes) and quite a few stairs, you'll be rewarded with a beautiful waterfall. Nearby, there is a simple but authentically Umbrian restaurant we really enjoyed. La Primula It doesn't have a view but the meat and cheese platters as well as the pastas are great. There are plenty of other good restaurants in the area.

Interested in the beach? You can be there in less than 2.5 hours. It's an easy drive on new roads and tunnels.  This town is so cute that I recommend you spend the night.
